Temperature Mapping Services
Identify hot and cold spots in your storage facilities, validate compliance to FDA/Health Canada standards, and optimize your permanent sensor placements.
What is Temperature Mapping?
Temperature mapping (also called thermal mapping or temperature qualification) is a systematic study that measures how temperature is distributed throughout a controlled environment — such as a walk-in cooler, warehouse, pharmaceutical cold room, or transport vehicle.
How It Works
An array of highly calibrated, NIST-traceable dataloggers is placed in a strategic 3D grid — at low, medium, and high elevations — throughout the facility. These sensors record temperature continuously for 24 to 72 hours (or up to 7 days for large warehouses), capturing the effects of door openings, defrost cycles, HVAC performance, product loading, and seasonal variation.
Why It Matters
The resulting data reveals hot spots, cold spots, and thermal stratification — areas where temperature may drift outside safe limits. This information is critical for regulatory compliance (FDA 21 CFR Part 11, Health Canada, WHO, GMP), helps justify the placement of permanent monitoring sensors, and provides documented evidence that your facility maintains the conditions required for product safety and quality.

Mapping Process
We deploy an array of highly calibrated, NIST-traceable dataloggers in a strategic 3D grid throughout your walk-in cooler, warehouse, or freezer. Data is collected continuously over a 24-48 hour period (or longer, up to 7 days for warehouses) to capture door openings, defrost cycles, and HVAC performance.

With MaxLinc VR/AR.
Step inside your environmental data. Our latest mapping reports can be directly imported into MaxLinc Vista. Wear a VR/AR headset and physically walk through your walk-in cooler or warehouse to see exactly where hot and cold spots are forming in 3D space.
Instead of reading numbers on a flat PDF, you can visualize 3D colorful heatmaps hovering directly over your shelves and pallets, making root cause analysis of thermal stratification instantaneous and intuitive.
Prefer to Do It Yourself?
We offer equipment rental for customers who want to conduct their own temperature mapping studies. Rent a set of pre-calibrated, NIST-traceable MaxLinc dataloggers, deploy them in your facility according to the protocol, and return them when finished. We provide placement guidelines, protocol templates, and technical support throughout the process.
- Pre-calibrated NIST-traceable sensors included
- Placement guidelines and protocol templates provided
- Cloud access for real-time data during the study
- Technical support throughout the mapping process
Why Map Your Facility?
