Can I bill my tenants for water without involving the utility company?+
Yes. The Cellular Water Meter is a private submeter that you install on the line feeding each unit. The utility keeps billing you for the whole property as usual; you use the meter's per-unit consumption data to split that bill fairly between tenants. The cloud dashboard generates printable sample bills from raw consumption data. Always check your local tenancy regulations on how recovered utility costs must be presented in your lease.
Does it need my tenant's WiFi?+
No. The meter has a built-in cellular connection, so it works in basements, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms with zero WiFi pairing. You never have to ask a tenant for their network password, and connectivity doesn't break when they change providers or move out.
How does the leak detection work?+
The meter tracks flow continuously. Continuous flow that never stops (a running toilet), abnormal volume spikes (a burst pipe), and out-of-pattern usage all trigger instant text and email alerts, so you can shut the water off before a small problem becomes a five-figure insurance claim.
